When you’ve said all your “I do’s” and the next chapter of your life and relationship together begin, what do you do with your beautiful wedding bouquet?
KEEP THEM
A clean vase is essential to keep your flowers at their beautiful best for as long as possible. Trim the stems and arrange the flowers (biggest blooms in the middle works great) in a vase filled with cool water half to two-thirds full. Add a flower food packet and remember to replenish the water level.
GIFT THEM
If you're lucky enough to be whisked away after your wedding to a far flung honeymoon, gifting your flowers is a great option, allowing your flowers to be enjoyed by others.
Bouquet Station
Having a table or two where your wedding flowers can be laid out so your guests can take a few blooms as a wedding favour, is such a beautiful generous gesture to end the night.
Donate
Speaking of beautifully generous, reach out to your local hospital, senior living home or women’s shelter, and ask them if they take flower donations. Your florist may also have established links and suggestions should you choose to donate your flowers.
DRY THEM
Drying your flowers can be done at home by air-drying or using silica gel. Alternatively you can hire a professional to dry your flowers for you. They can also help with what to do with them now they’re dried. But again there are things you can do at home yourself.
Make Candles
The process is quite simple and, particularly if you're crafty, very fun. You’ll need; wax, candle wick(s), container(s), pencil(s), skewer. Towards the end of the process, when the wax has cooled, you can add your favourite essential oil (one or two drops) to add that aromatic note.
Pressed in Glass Frame
A beautiful way to display your dried flowers between sheets of super clean glass and secured by its frame.
Turn into Jewellery
I love this idea. I’ve seen this done in several different ways; set in epoxy resin, sealed and preserved in a thin layer of plastic or made into incredible beads, but unless you have a talent in this area, finding a professional to do the work is the best way to ensure best results.
Whatever you choose to do with your wedding bouquet and flowers after your wedding remember to have plenty of photos taken of them.
